An ethical and effective instructional leader facilitates professional practice that continually improves each student’s learning.
AVID Academic Language and Literacy Book Study
Focus Indicator: A2
Builds capacity of educators to provide each student a rigorous curriculum aligned with the Tennessee Academic Standards.
Equitable Access to Content:
During the summer of 2021, I facilitated an optional book study to build educator ability to implement supports for English Language (EL) students so that these students could have access to rigorous content while concurrently building fluency in conversational and academic English. This was a new experience for me as I had not led a professional learning community in the past and, due to COVID, I would have to lead the sessions virtually through Teams. This artifact details our minutes from each session.
Other Aligned Indicators:

B5: Models and communicates expectations for individual and shared ownership of student, educator, and school success regardless of race, class, culture and language, gender and sexual orientation, and disability or special status.
Level of Use Administrator Form:
Focus Indicator: A5
Systematically monitors and adjusts progress toward established goals and facilitates procedures and practices leading to continuous school improvement.
Monitoring Implementation:
When reading about "Levels of Use" in the text Implementing Change by Hall and Hord, I decided to create a digital tool to determine the level of use of an intervention for each teacher and guide the interviewer in creating a plan of support. This tool is also useful because it collects qualitative data and each support plan in a spreadsheet.
Other Aligned Indicators:
A1: Collaborates with stakeholders to establish and communicate a clear, compelling, shared vision for continuous school improvement. C5: Collaborates with others to recruit, induct, support, retain, and develop effective educators using various strategies based on multiple sources of data.
